Two Men Indicted For September Robbery and Attempted Murder in Rockland

Rockland County District Attorney Tom Walsh announced the indictments of two Brooklyn men on multiple felonies stemming from the September home invasion in Garnerville. The defendants were apprehended with the help of concerned citizens who called in tips to assist the police in apprehending these dangerous individuals.

This violent incident occurred the morning of September 7, 2021, in Garnerville. The defendants allegedly entered an apartment on Hasbrouck Drive in Garnerville while two minor children were in the home. After forcing the children to stay silent, they proceeded to ransack the apartment, at which time an adult male relative entered the apartment to check on the children. The adult male was pistol whipped by the suspects, who ran from the apartment with the stolen items. Then the defendant’s opened fire at the male victim who had ran out of his apartment after the home invasion. A keen-eyed police officer from Stony Point observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle and attempted to stop them. They led the officer on a brief pursuit eventually abandoning their vehicle and fled on foot. The subjects were eventually apprehended with the assistance of tips from residents.

The defendants, Dwayne Holmes, 38 and Keinone Wilson, 35, both of Brooklyn, NY, were indicted by a grand jury for Attempted Murder 2nd (felony), Kidnapping 2nd (felony), Burglary 1st (felony), Robbery 1st (felony), and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (misdemeanor).

“The Rockland County District Attorney’s Office is not going to tolerate career criminals coming into this County and putting our resident’s lives at risk. The fear that these three victims must have undergone during this home invasion is unfathomable. We are grateful to the concerned Rockland citizens whose tips led to the apprehension of two violent criminals. This was a job well done by law enforcement and our residents”, said Rockland County District Attorney Tom Walsh.

This matter is being prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Michael Peterson who is being assisted by Assistant District Attorney Christine Reddy and Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Knowlton. The District Attorney’s Office would like to commend the Haverstraw Police Department (lead investigative agency), Stony Point Police Department, New York State Police, New York State Park Police, and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office for all their great work on this case.

It should be noted that an indictment is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
