Woman Bitten by Rattlesnake in Harriman State Park, Rescued by NYPD Helicopter

A woman from Brooklyn was bitten by a rattlesnake in Harriman State Park Friday night, prompting a rescue by an NYPD helicopter.

The woman, aged 24, was in a heavily wooded area Sloatsburg when she was bitten.

NYPD Special Ops tweeted “NYPD #Aviation members assist Rockland PD @ Harriman State Park. A female was bitten by a rattlesnake & needed immediate medical transort. The victim was hoisted in a patient extrication platform bag and was transported to Nyack hospital and is expected to recover.”

According to News12 Hudson Valley, without help from NYPD Aviation, officials say it would have taken more than two hours to reach her.

According to reports, she was transferred from Nyack hospital to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, New York City’s hospital for venomous injuries.
