In a show of Kiddush Hashem, hundreds of students from Monsey Yeshivas came out to show their respects to Richard Lagarde, a two time Monsey Fire Chief.

Lagarde, who worked as an employee of the Town of Ramapo for the past 30 years, had given his time to the Monsey Fire Department for 47 years. He spent two terms there as chief of the department.

His sudden passing wasn’t missed, and a special funeral procession was arranged, with dozens of firefighters and fire apparatus in attendance. Representatives from EMS volunteer agencies around the County, including Hatzalah joined as well, along with Chaveirim of Rockland.

Students of the Viznitz (Vilchovitz) Cheder, the Munkach Cheder, and Yesheva Shaarei Arazim, were standing outside in respect as the procession passed.
