Arrest Made In September Bomb Threat At Suffern High School

On September 21, 2023, the Ramapo Police Department received a report of a bomb threat at Suffern High School prompting an evacuation and a coordinated response from multiple law enforcement agencies.

On Monday, January 15, 2024, subsequent to an extensive four-month investigation by the Ramapo Police Investigations Division, a 14-year-old juvenile was arrested for initiating the incident. The juvenile was charged with Making a Terroristic Threat (D-Felony) and Falsely Reporting an Incident 1st Degree (D-Felony). The juvenile was processed and released pending an appearance in Rockland County Family Court.

The Ramapo Police Department was assisted in the investigation by our officers assigned to the FBI Task Force and the Suffern Police Department. RPD also appreciates the cooperation of the Suffern Central School District during the course of the investigation.

It should be noted that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
