by Monsey.info

The Ramapo Police are investigating a suspicious incident that occurred on Thursday between 7:15am and 7:40am in the area of North Airmont Road and Spook Rock Road after a man attempted to convince a child to come into his car.

According to the Ramapo Police Department, they received a report that a male with a beard, wearing yellow clothing and driving a gray 4-door sedan approached an 11 year old student waiting for her school bus. It is alleged that the driver told the child that he knew her mother and that she asked him to drive her to school.

The quick acting child ran away and the man hopped back into his vehicle and left westbound on North Airmont Road. The child’s mother confirmed that she did not ask anyone to transport her daughter to school.

This incident is under investigation by Ramapo PD Detectives.

Children should be reminded to remain aware of their surroundings when waiting for the school bus. There will be an increased police presence at school bus stop locations throughout the Town.

If anyone has any information regarding this incident, please contact the Ramapo PD.
