Biggest News In Travel This Year, Spirit Increases Checked Baggage Weight Limit to 50lb

This may sound ridiculous, but in the Jewish world, this may be the biggest travel news this year.

Budget airline Spirit, which sees hundreds of Jewish families daily booking cheap flights, has increased its weight limit for checked bags from 40lb to a much more reasonable 50lb, completely reinventing cheap air travel for the Jewish community.

“Spirit Airlines today announced exciting new benefits for Guests that add value and provide greater flexibility,” Travelers can now take advantage of the airline’s first of many new milestones toward an enhanced Guest experience with more flexible policies.”

The change came along with two other major changes to the companies police including the moving of expiration date for Extended Future Travel Vouchers to 12 months (for vouchers issued on or after June 3, 2024), and removing all Change or Cancelation fees,

“Guests can book with confidence knowing that if their travel plans change, their ticket can too,” the press release said. “Effective May 17, 2024, there is no fee to change or cancel a reservation on any Spirit flight. Travelers will only have to pay the difference in fare or receive a credit if the new trip is less expensive. “

This may be a game changer for Spirit Airline, making the airline more user-friendly and perhaps wooing back some previous customers turned off due to poor customer satisfaction.
