First Arrests As Ramapo Begins Enforcing New Taxi Requirements

This weekend, the Ramapo Police Department Traffic Safety Unit (TSU) officers took action, making arrests to uphold the new Town of Ramapo Taxicab Law. Two individuals are now facing charges under Local Ordinance 255-4 and their cases will be heard in the Town of Ramapo Justice Court.

Taxi operators interested in picking up passengers in the Town of Ramapo must have Ramapo Taxi Stickers. If you have not started the process, reach out to the Town of Ramapo Taxi Commission at (845) 357-5100, x440 or Ramapotaxi@ramapo.org

“Our officers conduct general and directed traffic enforcement every day, and not just those assigned to the TSU,” the Department wrote.” Of the numerous traffic stops this past weekend, eight revealed drivers with suspended licenses. They were promptly arrested and processed for this violation.”
