Hillcrest Home Fire, No Injuries

Around 3:10pm Tuesday afternoon, 911 was called with a report of smoke coming from a home on Orchard Street in Hillcrest.

First responders arrived at the scene to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the home.

Hillcrest Fire Company No. 1 along with South Spring Valley FD, Monsey Fire Dept, Spring Valley Fire Dept, New City Fire Department and Nanuet Fire Department all responded to the blaze. The fire was soon extinguished.

Some of the residents of this home were in the house when the fire started and were able to escape without injuries. The family is being assisted by the American Red Cross to find temporary shelter.

The fire is being investigated by the Ramapo Police Department Investigations Division and the Rockland County BCI-Arson Unit. The cause has not yet been determined.
