One Person Dead In Fatal Central Nyack Fire

On Saturday, December 30, 2023 at approximately 4:50 pm the Clarkstown Police Department responded to 49 Laurel Rd. in Central Nyack for a reported structure fire with a resident possibly still inside.

As police units arrived on scene they observed a single family home with fire engulfing the first floor. Central Nyack FD was on scene along with several other volunteer fire companies from throughout the county. Upon arrival interior crews located a male, 74 years old, victim on the second floor of the structure under heavy fire conditions. Once the victim was removed from the structure FF/EMTs from Piermont started providing CPR while awaiting EMS arrival to the scene. Unfortunately due to the injuries sustained, the victim was declared deceased.

The Clarkstown PD – Detective Bureau is handling the investigation and has yet to make a determination as to the cause of the fire. Detectives ask if you have any information with regard to this fatal fire to please contact them at (845)639-5840.
