Preliminary Results in Rockland Elections Show Major Jewish Wins

Jewish and non Jewish residents of Rockland County turned out for local elections Tuesday, handing wide margin wins to many Jewish candidates, according to preliminary results.
The hotly contested trustee seats in at least three towns with large Jewish populations, showed their support for Jewish and Jewish endorsed candidates including Pomona, Chestnut Ridge and Airmont.
The preliminary, uncertified results show wide margin wins, with Mendy Lasker and Marc Greenberg candidates for Trustees of the Village of Pomona gaining 475 votes and 476 respectively. Their competition, Yagel and Willson garnered only 259 and 273 votes
In Airmont, Trustee candidates Moses and Weiss received 1788 and 1786 votes respectively, beating out Dispensa and Groff with 804 and 811.
Chestnut Ridge showed a tighter race, with Presti getting 731, Rose getting 744, and Miller getting 727. In the race, there were 20 write in votes.
These election results are preliminary, and the certified results must be released before the exact numbers are made official.
This election shows the growing trend of importance in the Jewish vote, giving more weight to the needs of the Jewish community.
