PSA: Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect For Rockland County

A Severe Weather Watch is in effect for the counties of Southern New York Monday as a cold front approaches to dispel a days-long heat wave.

As the cold front moves in this afternoon, the combined hot and cold temperatures create the perfect combination for severe thunderstorms, one of which is expected to pass over the city.

In a PSA published by the NYCEM, they noted that “a strong thunderstorm will impact this region with winds in excess of 40 mph. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.”
