Dozens of people had to be rescued from cars and a yeshiva Sunday night through Monday, as Rockland County was hit hard by flooding, Rockland Chaverim tells Hamodia.

Chaverim members used a specialized Jeep vehicle to wade through water in order to reach people stranded in cars, as well as to reach houses that were overcome by several feet of water.

More than a dozen people who were on home-based respirators were provided with generators by Chaverim, as blackouts occurred across the area. Many homes were inundated with 4-5 feet of water, which had to be pumped out.

A local yeshiva, Shaarei Arazim, needed to be evacuated due to flooding; Chaverim had to use the special Jeep to reach the students and bring them to safety.

Sunday night, Chaverim members canvassed many neighborhoods to secure downed power lines which had fallen in areas where people walk, in time for the first minyanim to open for Shacharis.

As of Monday afternoon, calls are still coming in consistently to Chaverim from people in need.

Baruch Hashem, no serious injuries were reported.
