Sifrei Torah Saved From Basement Fire in Chestnut Ridge

Two sifrei Torah were saved from a fire that broke out in the basement of a Chestnut Ridge home Wednesday Morning, doing extensive damage but leaving no injuries.

The fire was reported around 10:00am Wednesday morning in the basement of 4 Wannamaker Court and required multiple apparatus to extinguish it.

According to YeshivaWorldNews, the home is owned by Rabbi Binyomin Klatzko, a well known Rabbi in the field of Kiruv.

The fire left a large amount of damage to the home, but the two Sifrei Torah were saved from the basement without any damage.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
